Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea Blog.jpgSweetwaters has joined it's three Ann Arbor, Michigan locations to the TapIt network. TapIt got in touch with Jackie Zimmerman from Sweetwaters to talk about TapIt and being a green cafe.

Why did you decide to sign your cafe up as a TapIt partner?
We found out about TapIt from one of our customers on Twitter. After looking into the program, we realized that we actually already offered free water to our customers so it just made sense to partner up and help promote a great new service! Sweetwaters tries to be as environmentally conscious as possible and we like to help out others that support the same cause.

What are the most important things your cafe does to be green?

We recycle all of our cardboard, milk jugs, office papers, and we also reprint on office paper. In the summer time we compost coffee grounds and package coffee grounds for local gardeners to use. We also offer refill discounts to customers who bring in their own mugs to cut down on the paper products that we use and when we package our mail order goods we reuse packing materials.

How is the Michigan water?

The quality of Michigan's water resources is heavily dependent on where you are located. However, for the most part I would say that the taste and freshness of the water is good regardless if you are drinking from a well or from a city line.
